Name a Beneficiary Before You Need One

Your income stops. Their bills don't. A policy with no current beneficiary can leave the money in the wrong place, or tied up.

Your income stops. Their bills don't. The beneficiary is the person who is supposed to receive the money and pay those bills. If the name is blank, old, or wrong, the plan fails at the moment it was bought for. Read the designation after a marriage, a separation, a baby, or a death in the family. A backup matters if the first person cannot receive the money. Children who are minors need a plan for who manages the funds. Putting "my estate" without thinking can slow the money down and expose it to creditors of the estate. The beneficiary on the policy is what the insurer pays. A will does not automatically rewrite it. This is general information, not legal advice. On the call, say who should receive the money and who should not. An advisor licensed through Greatway Financial writes the coverage with you and tells you what to take to your own lawyer if the family situation is complicated. Send your name, email, and phone, then book the call. We will never sell or distribute your personal information.

The checklist

  • Name a beneficiary, and a backup.
  • Read it again after a marriage, a baby, a house, or a separation.
  • Do not assume a will replaces the policy designation.
  • Ask how money for a minor child would be managed.
  • Send your name and book the call so the contract matches the family you have now.

Your family should not pay this gap. Talk to an Advisor, then book the call.
